フレデリック・マル新作
日本にもファンが多いフレデリック・マル氏の新作香水発表会のニュースです。今年秋リリース予定の「Dans Tes Bras」(In Your Arms)をバーニーズ・ニューヨークにてお披露目。"Editions de Parfums"シリーズの3年ぶりの新作です。調香師はモーリス・ルーセルさん。
記事や写真から拝見する限り穏やかでフレンドリーな発表会だったようです。大ブランドさんの新製品発表会が、セレブ達を掻き集め来場者の度肝を抜く仕掛けとスペクタクルに向かう中、一方でファンタスチックさとは縁遠い堅実さで地道な活動を続けるメゾン系ブランドさんも少なくありません。
フレデリック・マルさんとは残念ながら個人的な知り合いでもなければお話させていただいたこともありませんが、いつか機会があればぜひお話を聞いてみたいお方です。

記事には「two monkeys trying to get it righ」と書かれています。そのニュアンスは読みとれませんが、ボクにはこんなふうに感じられます。
「二匹のおサルさんがああでもない、こうでもない、と作り上げた作品です」
もし正しければ、調香師との良好な関係や人柄が伝わってきます。
「Fragrance is much like wine. The larger the bottle, the finer the quality」(香水はワインと同じでボトルが大きいほど、品質がよくなります)は、おもしろい意見ですね。11月ニューヨークにて販売予定。100mlで200ドル(2万円程度)。百貨店のバイヤーさんには気になる一品かも？

(NEW YORK) On a scorching, humid day, we appreciate the transformative powers of a good fragrance more than ever. Grateful chicsters, beauty editors compris, flocked to Barneys New York Thursday night to celebrate none other than Frederic Malle and his new scent, Dans tes Bras. Created along with famed nose Maurice Roucel, a process Malle described as "two monkeys trying to get it right," the perfume includes top notes of patchouli, violet, musk, and white flowers--which offer "saltiness and a hint of sunscreen," according to Malle.
"Fragrance should be a skin enhancer," Malle explained while spritzing wrists. "It still has to be you! Fragrance is much like wine. The larger the bottle, the finer the quality." So who should wear the stuff, we asked? "I never think of customers. I am not a marketing guy!"
